December: FASA Star Trek: "Without a Trace"

Well, our first year is coming to a close. When we saw the announcement about a brand new Star Trek TV show in 2017 we knew we had to finish the year out big!

Game master Erik Mornes is running a thrilling adventure called WITHOUT A TRACE! He'll be using old school FASA rules, set during The Next Generation era (or at least post-Kirk and company) aboard the U.S.S Excalibur, an Ambassador Class Federation starship. You might recognize it as the same class as the Enterprise C, highlighted in a few episodes of TNG.

MISSION DETAILS:
It started out as just a friendly conversation--until suddenly there was no one left to talk to! The crew of Deep Space 39 has disappeared. You and your crew, the U.S.S. Excalibur, must find out why--before they too are among the vanished.

DARK SIDE OF THE MOON CONCLUDES!

Bloody hell, the mission to save humanity from cosmic horror has gone off its trolley! We need your help to set things right. October's featured game is the imminent conclusion of last month's DARK SIDE OF THE MOON. Based on Charles Stross' Laundry Files this is an original adventure by gamemaster Matt Towle.

The game mixes setting material from Stross' novels (and the related Laundry Files roleplaying Cypher System rules from Monte Cook Games.

No need to have played the earlier game--we'll just assume you were standing in the back of the line of secret investigators teleported to the surface of the moon!

Okay FINE--here's the synopsis again, to get you started:

Players take up the role of a British special task force sent on a mission to discover happenings strange and supernatural on the moon...but without the resources of a well-funded special ops ministry. As Matt puts it:
Space:1969. While NASA spends millions on cutting-edge rocket technology, your cash-strapped ministry just gave you a wetsuit and a subway token. Next stop: the moon!*

GAMERS WANTED!

 Hey space game fans...

We want to help you bring your game to Saturday Night Space Opera! Whether you run scifi roleplaying games, board games, miniatures war games, or collectible card game--join us at Source Comics & Games on every first Saturday of the month. We're always looking for new players for our featured game of the month. We're also expanding the fun to more games!

Take a peek at the GM's page for a list of ideas to bring, run, and play. It could be a new system you've been dying to play or an adventure of your own creation. Find something you like and get in touch through the Contact page. There's no fee, just let us know you're coming so we can reserve tables.

Why space opera?

We just happen to love scifi games with space travel themes. A swashbuckling space fantasy like Star Wars or a hard sci-fi thriller set in our solar system  would equally be welcome at Saturday Night Space Opera. And besides, the fantasy games have plenty of nights on the calendar. It's time that scifi had it's own night!

Sept. SNSO: Not-so-super spies on the moon!

Cheerio agents! Get set for a wild ride into the imagination of Charles Stross' Laundry Files in an original adventure by gamemaster Matt Towle calls Dark Side of the Moon!

It's a gonzo mash-up of the setting material from Stross' books and the related Laundry Files roleplaying game but using the new Cypher System rules from Monte Cook Games.

At first glance, this one's tailor made for Stross fans. But really anyone with a love for irreverent humor, Lovecraftian-influenced sci-fi, and spy thrillers through the lens of an overburdened British bureaucracy, will find themselves in GREAT company.

Players take up the role of a special task force sent on a mission to discover happenings strange and supernatural on the moon...but without the resources of a well-funded special ops ministry. As Matt puts it:
Space:1969. While NASA spends millions on cutting-edge rocket technology, your cash-strapped ministry just gave you a wetsuit and a subway token. Next stop: the moon!
